Leader as Coach

A four day programme.

Managers play a vital role in the development of people, and competent, confident people play a vital role in the success of the organisation.

So leaders need to be able to spot the opportunity to develop a team member when it presents itself. Is a ten minute coaching conversation required, or a more formal series of coaching sessions? Whichever it is, does the leader have the skills to maximise that team member’s potential?

This four day programme equips managers with the skills to coach team members to develop their abilities in a range of different situations. For instance:

• Improving performance
• Managing pressure and dealing with stress
• Coping and surviving change
• Encouraging accountability and personal responsibility
• Developing confidence

Participants will explore human behaviour using the tools and ethos of Transactional Analysis (TA) to support team members to achieve and to grow in confidence. In turn, they will also learn a great deal about their leadership style, and the impact they have on others and how to change if necessary.

They will receive a mixture of TA theory input, supported by exercises to further their understanding. They will be encouraged to apply the theory to themselves and others, and to self-reflect. Through discussion and practice they will further their knowledge and develop confidence in their ability to coach.

Peer and tutor feedback is built into the learning process, and in this way every opportunity for learning is offered, making this programme high impact, challenging and satisfying.
