Triangle TA Group (TTAG), based in Exeter, meets for 10 months of the year for a two day workshop and is a community of practice for trainers, coaches, managers, youth workers – in fact, anybody who is interested in professional development using the framework and ethos of Transactional Analysis (TA).
Developmental Transactional Analysis (DTA) encompasses the non-therapy applications of TA, combining the organisational, educational and (non-therapeutic) counselling specialisms. It is concerned with applying TA to the process of change and growth at the personal, professional, group and organisational levels.
DTA focuses on using TA in a way that involves teaching the models and concepts with clients and working with them to increase their self-understanding and hence their behavioural options. Clients are also helped to understand the structures and processes that operate within groups, teams, organisations and institutions.
Triangle TA Group workshops run on a Friday and Saturday, and are designed to provide a qualification route through the International Centre for Developmental Transactional Analysis (ICDTA) for those who want to qualify.
Attendance at 10 workshops, with the accompanying application and supervision hours and assignments will lead to the Certificate in Developmental Transactional Analysis, and a further 10 workshops and accompanying study and hours of application and supervision will lead to the Diploma in DTA.
For those wishing to go on to the internationally accredited Certified Transactional Analyst status, we will be setting up an Advanced group in due course.
Very few professional approaches are as rigorous as that for TA. Analysts are expected to develop a high level of self-awareness so that their own issues do not interfere with the needs of the client. We will also spend time learning to analyse individual, group and organisational dynamics in order to maintain focus in our interventions.
The qualification route is there for those who want it – you may want to attend the workshops for personal development reasons, and to be part of a community of practice.
Whether you are a manager, trainer, HR professional, coach or youth worker, Developmental TA has a framework of interlocking concepts and techniques which promote clear communication, and helps people reach their true potential.
